The Fortuna Huskies packed Damon Gym on Thursday, August 27, for the first Fortuna High rally of the 2026β27 school year, bringing together music, school spirit, fall athletics, and plenty of friendly competition.
The rally started before students even reached the gym. The Fortuna High Band marched students toward Damon Gym and played as everyone entered. Inside, students were welcomed through a tunnel of ASB Leadership students waving blue and white pom-poms, setting the energy for the afternoon.
β Rock, Paper, Scissors Champion!
One of the highlights of the rally was the finale of a school-wide Rock, Paper, Scissors competition that had been building throughout the week. Students challenged one another and collected beaded necklaces as they won, eventually narrowing the competition down to the championship.
After one final showdown in front of the student body, Ryker Renner emerged as the Fortuna High Rock, Paper, Scissors Champion! π
β½πβ³ Fall Sports Take the Floor
The rally also gave Fortuna High a chance to recognize members of our soccer, volleyball, and golf teams before putting them to work in some very different competitions.
Golf and volleyball athletes teamed up for a relay that started with one student being dragged to half court on a towel. From there, they had to run down the court, spin around a bat or golf club 10 times, make their way back to half court, and then get dragged on the towel back to the out-of-bounds line.
The soccer teams faced their own challenge, forming a human train with balloons held between each athlete. Teams had to move together without using their handsβand without losing the balloons along the way.
Between the games, introductions, music, and cheering from the classes, it was a fun first opportunity for the entire student body to come together this school year.
The rally wrapped up with Mr. Husky himself, Activities Director Mr. Couch, closing out the festivities and sending the Huskies back into the rest of their day.

Our first rally set the tone for another year of school spirit, student involvement, athletics, music, and opportunities to come together as a Fortuna High community.
Thanks to ASB Leadership, the Fortuna High Band, our student-athletes, Mr. Couch, and everyone who helped make the first rally of the year a great one.
