It’s another busy week at Fortuna High as we head toward Homecoming! This week’s Husky Howler includes Homecoming reminders, senior parking, Rotary Youth Exchange, yearbook sales, tutoring and detention information, club activities, the latest Husky Sports results, and this week’s Husky Eats menu.

Student News
A Musical Homecoming
Homecoming is getting closer, and this year’s theme is “A Musical Homecoming.” Each graduating class has been assigned a different genre of musicals to inspire its lip sync performance and other activities.
With so much happening during Homecoming, individual Homecoming announcements will not be included in the Husky Howler. Students should regularly check the Google Classroom for their graduating class for schedules, activities, deadlines, and other important information.
Senior Parking Spaces
The first two sections of solar panel-covered parking spaces are now reserved for seniors. Members of the Class of 2027 must get a Senior ’27 parking sticker from Mr. Couch before parking in these areas. Students without the appropriate sticker who park in the reserved sections may receive minutes.
Seniors are also invited to help decorate and chalk the senior parking areas Saturday from 9:00–11:00 AM. Snacks and music will be provided.
Study Abroad with Rotary Youth Exchange
Ever thought about spending a year living and studying in another country? The Fortuna Rotary Club will host a Rotary Youth Exchange Parent Information Night on October 5th.
Students and families can learn more about becoming a Rotary Youth Exchange Student Ambassador, experiencing another culture, developing leadership skills, and making connections with people from around the world.
Yearbooks Are Still $69
The 2026–27 Fortuna High Yearbook remains on sale for $69 through October 30th. Prices increase after the deadline, so families are encouraged to order early.

Husky Spirit Fridays
Keep showing your Fortuna High pride with Husky Spirit Fridays. Wear blue and white or your favorite Husky apparel each Friday, then visit CA-9 during break to scan the QR code and earn Minga points.
Detention, Minute Recovery & Tutoring
Fortuna High has several detention, minute recovery, and tutoring opportunities available this week.
On Monday, lunch detention is with Mr. Richardson in B-2, followed by after-school detention with Mr. Orr in CA-8.
On Tuesday, Mr. Orr hosts lunch detention and after-school minute recovery in CA-8. Students needing academic support can attend lunch math tutoring with Mr. Hayes in E-1 or after-school tutoring with Miss Day in the Library.
On Wednesday, lunch detention and minute recovery are with Mr. Richardson in B-3, followed by after-school detention with Mr. Orr in CA-8. Lunch math tutoring with Raven is available in E-1, and Ms. Dixon hosts after-school tutoring in F-6.
On Thursday, Mr. Orr hosts both lunch and after-school detention in CA-8, and Friday lunch detention is also with Mr. Orr in CA-8.
Saturday School is available from 8:00 AM to noon with Mr. Orr in CA-8.
Club News
There are plenty of ways for Huskies to get involved around campus this week.
Fellowship of Christian Athletes meets Monday at lunch in CA-2.
There will be no Dungeons & Dragons Club meeting this Tuesday, but the club will return next week. Garden Club will still meet Tuesday after school in the garden between the Metal Shop and F Building. BSU meets on the first and third Tuesdays of each month at lunch in B-3, so watch for its next meeting.
Thursday is a busy day for Creeks Club. Students can meet on the senior lawn after school to help with recycling, rain or shine. Creeks will also hold its September lunch meeting on September 24th in F-5 to discuss upcoming events and fill two open officer positions.
GSA, Fortuna High’s Gender and Sexuality Alliance, also meets Thursday at lunch in the Wellness Center, providing a supportive and welcoming space for students on campus.
On Friday, Creeks Club hosts a 30-minute campus cleanup after school, beginning on the senior lawn. Students do not need to be club members to participate.
Theatre Club holds general meetings on the first and third Fridays of the month and officer meetings on the second and fourth Fridays. Chemistry Club meets on the first Friday of each month after school in F-3 with Mr. Willson.
Husky Sports
Fortuna High athletics continued their fall seasons last week with action in soccer and volleyball.
Boys Soccer had a huge performance against Ferndale on September 19th, with the Huskies earning a commanding 13–0 victory.
Girls Soccer also faced Ferndale on September 19th, with Fortuna falling 4–1.
In Girls Volleyball, the Huskies faced a tough stretch of competition, falling 3–0 to Arcata on September 15th and 3–0 to McKinleyville on September 17th.

Husky Eats
For breakfast, Monday starts with French toast, Tuesday brings a pancake puff, Wednesday features a sausage biscuit, Thursday serves a country breakfast, and Friday finishes the week with a ham and cheese bagel. Daily alternatives include a meat or PB&J sandwich, parfait, and cereal.
For lunch, Monday features cheese or pepperoni pizza, Tuesday brings the nacho bar, Wednesday serves baked ziti, Thursday features sloppy joes, and Friday wraps up the week with a chicken wrap. Lunch also includes vegetables, fruit, milk, and access to the salad bar.
