Another week is underway at Fortuna High, with plenty of opportunities to get involved, support our Huskies, and stay connected on campus. This weekβs Husky Howler includes important photo and yearbook information, fall play auditions, detention and minute recovery schedules, club activities, early fall sports results, and the latest Husky Eats menu.

Student News
Picture Retakes Coming September 2
Picture retakes will take place September 2nd for students who ordered a photo package and need a retake or students who have not had their school picture taken at all this year.
If you have an appointment that day, let Naomi in the front office know so arrangements can be made to work around your appointment.
Fall Play Auditions & Crew Interviews
Applications for the cast and crew of the fall play are available now outside Room CA-6.
Crew interviews will take place September 1st, followed by cast auditions on September 2nd and possible callbacks on September 3rd. Students interested in participating can find additional information and sign-ups on the bulletin board outside CA-6.
Yearbooks On Sale
The 2026β27 Fortuna High Yearbook is now available for $69 through October 30th. Prices will increase after the early-order deadline.

Student Parking
Students who drive to school must have a parking pass and park in the designated student parking lot on 12th Street.
Parking outside the designated area or parking without a permit may result in a ticket and fine from the Fortuna Police Department. Parking pass forms are available in the front office.
Senior Portraits
Senior Portrait Day is November 16th. Seniors who have an appointment or other conflict that day should contact Naomi in the front office ahead of time so their portrait can be scheduled around it.
There will be no Lifetouch Senior Portrait make-up day, so seniors should plan accordingly.
Senior Sunrise
The Class of 2027 will gather for Senior Sunrise on Thursday, August 27th at Husky Field. Gates open at 6:15 AM, and all seniors are invited.
Bring a blanket or chair and enjoy donuts and hot chocolate while starting senior year together.
Detention & Minute Recovery
Detention and minute recovery opportunities are available throughout the week.
On Monday, lunch detention is with Mr. Richardson in B-2 at 12:54 PM, followed by afternoon detention with Mr. Orr in CA-8 at 3:30 PM.
On Tuesday, Mr. Orr hosts lunch detention in CA-8 at 12:10 PM and afternoon detention/minute recovery at 3:25 PM.
On Wednesday, lunch detention and minute recovery are available with Mr. Richardson in B-3 from 12:10β12:30 PM. Mr. Orr hosts an after-school session in CA-8 from 3:30β4:30 PM.
On Thursday, Mr. Orr hosts lunch detention in CA-8 from 12:10β12:30 PM and an after-school session from 3:30β4:30 PM.
On Friday, lunch detention is available with Mr. Orr in CA-8 from 12:10β12:30 PM.
Saturday School is held from 8:00 AMβ12:00 PM with Mr. Stockdale in Room F-2.
Club News
There are plenty of ways for students to connect with others and get involved outside the classroom.
Interact Club is holding its first meeting of the year at lunch in Room AB-3. Interact gives students opportunities to earn community service hours while taking action in their school and community. Members can join the club’s Remind using code @7BF76D for updates.
On Tuesday, Dungeons & Dragons Club meets in AB-3 with Mr. Rios after school until 5:00 PM, while BSU meets every other Tuesday at lunch in B-3.
Garden Club is also getting started for the year. The club meets in CA-1 before heading to the garden between the Metal Shop and F Building. On Tuesday, August 25th, students are invited to the garden from 3:25β4:00 PM to harvest fruit and flowers to share at the Club Fair. New members are welcome.
On Thursday, Creeks Club continues its recycling efforts after school on the senior lawn, rain or shine.
Theatre Club holds general meetings on the first and third Fridays of each month, with officer meetings on the second and fourth Fridays.
Creeks Club will also host a campus clean-up on Friday, August 28th. Students will meet on the senior lawn immediately after school for a 30-minute cleanup. You do not have to be a Creeks Club member to participate.
Husky Sports
Fall sports are underway at Fortuna High.
Students interested in Boys Basketball who are not currently participating in a fall sport can join strength and conditioning on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 6:00β7:00 PM in the Logan Gym weight room.
On the soccer field, Boys Soccer faced McKinleyville in tournament play on August 21st, falling 5β2.
Girls Soccer had a big performance against McKinleyville on August 21st, earning a commanding 7β0 victory.
Fall competition is just getting started, so come out and support our Huskies as the season continues.
Husky Eats
Breakfast this week starts with French toast on Monday, followed by a mini bagel variety on Tuesday, a sausage biscuit on Wednesday, a country breakfast on Thursday, and a ham and cheese bagel on Friday. Additional daily breakfast choices include a meat or PB&J sandwich, parfait, and cereal.
For lunch, Monday features a hamburger or cheeseburger, Tuesday offers the nacho bar, Wednesday brings chicken parmesan, Thursday features sub sandwiches, and Friday wraps up the week with Chinese chicken salad. Lunches also include vegetables, fruit, milk, and access to the salad bar.
