Fortuna High Theater β’ Photos by Fortuna High Photo & Design
Fortuna High celebrated the Class of 2026 with a meaningful and heartfelt Multi-Cultural Graduation Ceremony, honoring the many backgrounds, traditions, and stories that make up our school community.
Held in the Fortuna High Theater, the ceremony began with a land acknowledgment recognizing the local Indigenous people, followed by an opening song and sage burning ceremony. The event also featured a powerful drum circle, helping set the tone for an evening centered around culture, identity, and community.
Students shared personal speeches and reflections representing a variety of experiences and cultures, including perspectives from Native communities, Latino heritage, and the story of a student immigrant from Jordan. These speeches highlighted resilience, family, tradition, and the journeys that brought students to this milestone moment.
Graduates were then presented with sashes and serapes representing their various heritages, creating a colorful and emotional celebration of identity and accomplishment.
Following the ceremony, students, families, and friends gathered in the cafeteria to enjoy a multi-cultural meal, celebrate together, and take photos in front of a large graduation backdrop.
