The Husky Howler is back with another week of important updates as we continue through the final stretch of the school year. From yearbook distribution to sports results and club opportunities, here’s everything happening at Fortuna High this week.

Student News

Yearbooks are here! Pre-ordered books will be distributed starting Wednesday in Room AB3. Students who purchased a yearbook can pick theirs up during distribution times.

A limited number of additional copies will be available for $90, first come, first served. Payments can be made with cash or checks payable to FUHS Yearbook. Yearbooks are still available to order online for $76 plus shipping at FortunaHigh.com/yearbook.

Seniors, a reminder that cap and gown orders must now be completed online at Ultimategrad.com. The final deadline to place your order is May 11th. If you plan to borrow a cap and gown, be sure to check in with Naomi in the office to confirm it meets the required style.


Detention & Tutoring

Detention and tutoring options are available throughout the week to support students.

Lunch detention is primarily held in Room B-3 and CA-8, with additional sessions scheduled throughout the week. Before-school detention is available in Room E-3 on Tuesday and Thursday mornings.

Students needing extra academic support can attend:

  • Lunch Math Tutoring in Room E-2 with Miss Valdez on Tuesdays
  • Math Tutoring in Room E-4 with Mr. Couch on Thursdays
  • After-school tutoring in the Library with Miss Day on Tuesdays
  • After-school tutoring in Room F-6 with Mrs. Dixon on Wednesdays and Thursdays

Attendance and minute recovery sessions are available after school in Rooms B-1 and B-2.

Saturday School will be held with Mr. Stockdale in Room F-2.


Club News

There are several opportunities this week to get involved on campus.

On Tuesday, Dungeons & Dragons Club meets after school in Room AB-3, and BSU meets every other Tuesday at lunch in Room B-3.

Thursday is a busy day for clubs. Creeks Club will meet at lunch to discuss officer elections and upcoming service opportunities, and also continues its recycling efforts after school on the senior lawn. MECHA Club meets in Room CA-4, GSA meets in the Wellness Center, and Future Leaders in Education Club meets in Ag 1. FCA also meets in Room CA-2 for Pizza with a Pastor.

On Friday, students can join Cert Club, Theatre Club in CA-6, and Book Club in CA-7 during lunch.


Husky Sports

Students interested in playing girls golf next fall should attend a meeting on May 4th at lunch in Café 1. Beginners are welcome, and equipment support is available.

In athletics, Girls Softball continues to perform at a high level. The Huskies picked up two strong wins over Arcata on May 2nd, with scores of 9–1 and 10–0, and also defeated Del Norte 7–3 earlier in the week.

Boys Baseball faced a challenging week, falling to Arcata in both games of a doubleheader on May 2nd, with scores of 2–13 and 2–3. The Huskies also dropped games to Del Norte and Eureka earlier in the week.


Husky Eats

This week’s breakfast menu includes French toast on Monday, biscuits and gravy on Tuesday, pancake puffs on Wednesday, a country breakfast on Thursday, and a ham and cheese bagel on Friday. Additional options include PB&J sandwiches, parfaits, and cereal.

For lunch, students can enjoy hamburgers or cheeseburgers on Monday, a nacho bar on Tuesday, chicken parmesan on Wednesday, sub sandwiches on Thursday, and BBQ chicken wraps on Friday. All meals include vegetables, fruit, milk, and access to the salad bar.
