The Husky Howler video bulletin is back as we head into the final stretch of the school year. With just a few weeks left, there are important updates, deadlines, and events happening across campus. Below is a full written recap of this week’s announcements for students, families, and staff.

Student News
Yearbooks are now $76 plus shipping. The 2026 yearbook has officially been sent to print, but copies are still available to order. Books are expected to arrive in the coming weeks and will be available for pick-up in Room AB3. Visit FortunaHigh.com/yearbook for more information.
Attention AP students — exam payments are due soon. Please pay for your AP exams at the Student Finance Office by April 30th and bring your receipt to Ms. Haynes in Room D2. The cost is $99 per exam, and there is a $40 cancellation or non-use fee. AP testing will take place from May 4th through May 14th.
Pack Leader applications for the 2026–2027 school year are currently open. Current sophomores and juniors are eligible to apply. Even returning Pack Leaders must submit a new application through Minga. The deadline to apply is May 1st. For more information, contact Mr. Couch or Ms. Lovfald.
Seniors, please note that cap and gown orders must now be completed online at Ultimategrad.com. Orders are no longer being collected in the office. The final deadline to order is May 11th. If you plan to borrow a cap and gown, check in with Naomi in the office to confirm it meets requirements.
Detention & Tutoring
Detention and academic support options are available throughout the week.
Lunch detention is held regularly in Room B-3, CA-8, and D-1, depending on the day, while after-school detention and minute recovery sessions take place in Café 1, CA-8, and Room B-2/B-1.
Before-school detention is available on Tuesdays and Thursdays in Room E-3.
Students looking for academic support can attend:
- Lunch Math Tutoring in Room E-2 with Ms. Valdez on Tuesdays
- Math Tutoring in Room E-4 with Mr. Couch on Thursdays
- After-School Tutoring in the Library with Ms. Day on Tuesdays
- After-School Tutoring in Room F-6 with Mrs. Dixon on Wednesdays and Thursdays
Saturday School will take place on May 2nd from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM in Room F-2 with Mr. Stockdale.
Club News
Clubs continue to offer a wide variety of opportunities for students to get involved.
On Tuesday, Dungeons & Dragons Club meets after school in Room AB-3, and BSU meets every other Tuesday at lunch in Room B-3.
Thursday is packed with activity. Creeks Club continues its recycling efforts after school on the senior lawn and holds meetings during lunch on the second and fourth Thursdays. MECHA Club meets in Room CA-4, GSA meets in the Wellness Center, and Future Leaders in Education Club meets at lunch in Ag 1. FCA also meets in Room CA-2 for Pizza with a Pastor.
On Friday, students can attend Cert Club, Theatre Club in CA-6, and Book Club in CA-7 during lunch. Creeks Club will also host a campus clean-up after school, open to all students and lasting about 30 minutes.
Husky Sports
Students interested in joining Girls Golf next fall are encouraged to attend an informational meeting on May 4th at lunch in Café 1. No experience is necessary, and equipment support is available. Pizza will be provided.
In athletics, the Fortuna Girls Softball team continues to perform strongly this season. Most recently, the Huskies split a doubleheader against McKinleyville, earning a close 6–5 win while also dropping one game. Overall, the team has put together a strong season with multiple dominant wins and continues to compete at a high level.
The Fortuna Boys Baseball team has faced a challenging stretch of games recently, including losses to McKinleyville. Despite the results, the team continues to compete and build experience as the season progresses.
Husky Eats
This week’s breakfast menu includes pancakes on Monday, cinnamon rolls on Tuesday, a sausage biscuit on Wednesday, waffles on Thursday, and a sausage and egg muffin on Friday. Daily options also include PB&J sandwiches, parfaits, and cereal.
For lunch, students can enjoy chicken strips on Monday, chicken enchiladas on Tuesday, spaghetti on Wednesday, a pulled pork sandwich on Thursday, and a turkey avocado panini on Friday. All meals include vegetables, fruit, milk, and access to the salad bar.
We’re officially in the final stretch of the school year, so stay focused, stay involved, and finish strong.
