The Fortuna High Huskies got their first taste of football action for the 2026 season at the annual H-DNL Preseason Football Jamboree at McKinleyville High School.
The jamboree brought together all eight of the H-DNLβs 11-player football programs for a full day of preseason competition. Varsity action began at 10:00 a.m., followed by the JV teams at 12:30 p.m.
Instead of full games, the jamboree gave teams an opportunity to test themselves in a series of short scrimmages. Each varsity team took part in four different matchups, with each scrimmage featuring a set number of offensive and defensive plays.
For the Fortuna Huskies, the day provided an important opportunity to get back on the field against live competition, work through different situations, and continue preparing for the regular season.
With official practices underway and the season opener just a week away, the jamboree offered players and coaches a chance to see where the team stands and what still needs work before the games begin to count.
More than anything, it was great to see Fortuna High football back on the field and the Huskies beginning another season together.
