Husky Howler Weekly Bulletin

Week of February 10–14, 2026

The latest Husky Howler video bulletin is now live, bringing Fortuna High students and families important updates for the week leading into President’s Week break. Below is a written summary of this week’s announcements for anyone who prefers to read or needs to reference details later.


Student News & Announcements

Students are invited to participate in this year’s Multicultural Ceremony, happening on May 22, 2026. This event celebrates the diverse cultures represented at Fortuna High, and students may share their culture through music, dance, poetry, or other performances. Interested students should see Mrs. Gomez in the office by March 19, 2026.

Yearbooks are currently on sale for $76. Senior photos and senior quotes are due by March 1, while custom pages and baby ads must be submitted by April 5. Seniors should email their photo and name to srios@fuhsdistrict.net. Submitted photos will appear in the Senior Submitted section, and quotes will be placed under the formal senior portrait. There is also one final chance for yearbook photo make-ups. Students who missed school photos earlier this year can be photographed by Mr. Rios in Room AB-3 on Thursday, March 12, during Advisory, Lunch, or After School. This is the last opportunity to be featured in the yearbook.


Detention & Tutoring

Lunch detention on Monday is held with Mr. Richardson in B-3, and after-school detention takes place in Café 1 with Ms. Lynch. Tuesday includes before-school detention with Ms. Raven in E-3, lunch detention with Mr. Orr in CA-8, and after-school detention in CA-8. Math tutoring is available at lunch in E-2 with Ms. Valdez, and after-school tutoring is held in the library with Ms. Day.

Wednesday lunch detention meets in B-3 with Mr. Richardson, with after-school detention led by Ms. Lovfald and tutoring available in Room F-6 with Mrs. Dixon. Thursday again includes before-school detention in E-3, lunch and after-school detention in CA-8, lunch math tutoring in E-4 with Mr. Couch, and after-school tutoring in Room F-6.

Friday lunch detention is held in CA-8 with Mr. Orr. There is no Saturday School this week due to President’s Week break.


Club News

Garden Club meets Monday after school in the garden area between F Building and the Metal Shop. Interact Club meets Monday at lunch in AB-3. Also on Monday, students can check out Husky Forge Club, a student-run maker club focused on design, 3D printing, CNC milling, and product creation. The club is currently working on Valentine’s gift boxes and can be found on Instagram at @fuhs.huskyforge.

On Tuesday, Dungeons & Dragons Club meets after school in AB-3. Thursday brings several club options, including Future Leaders in Education Club, which will hold its first-ever meeting on Thursday, February 12, at lunch in Ag 1, with snacks provided. FCA meets at lunch in CA-2, Mecha Club meets in CA-4, and GSA meets in the Wellness Center. Creeks Club continues weekly recycling on the senior lawn after school and will discuss upcoming events during their 2nd and 4th Thursday meetings.

On Friday, Book Club, Cert Club, and Theatre Club all meet during lunch. Creeks Club is also hosting a campus clean-up after school, open to all students and lasting about 30 minutes.


Husky Sports

Students interested in football should stop by Room D5 on Tuesday at break to see Coach Benbow and learn more about joining the team. Tennis open courts are available Mondays and Wednesdays from 3:30–5:00 p.m. until President’s Week break, weather permitting. Baseball open fields take place Tuesdays and Thursdays at 4:15 p.m. at Husky Field.

The Husky Wrestling team continues to impress, now totaling 165 pins on the season.

In basketball action, the boys team faced tough competition this week, falling to Del Norte and Eureka. The girls team also battled hard, coming up short against Del Norte and Eureka, including a competitive Senior Night matchup. Both teams continue to show effort and growth as the season winds down.

Spring sports officially begin on Monday, February 9.


Husky Eats

This week’s breakfast and lunch menus feature a variety of options throughout the week, including hamburgers, nachos, chicken parmesan, sandwiches, and a turkey avocado panini for lunch, along with classic breakfast favorites such as French toast, biscuits and gravy, pancake puffs, and a country breakfast. Fresh fruit, milk, and the salad bar are available daily.
