🎅 Santa’s Sleigh Logo

We’re proud to share the official Santa’s Sleigh logo, created by the Fortuna High Photo & Design program for the Fortuna Volunteer Fire Department Company. This design celebrates a beloved local tradition — one that has delivered joy, comfort, and holiday magic to our community for nearly four decades.

Our students worked closely with FVFD Committee to develop a logo that reflects the warmth, service, and spirit of the Santa’s Sleigh program. From early sketches to final drafts, this project gave students real-world experience in working with a community partner, applying design skills to a meaningful cause.

🎁 About the Santa’s Sleigh Service

The Fortuna Volunteer Fire Department Santa’s Sleigh Service began in 1987, originally known as the Teddy Bear Drive started by Dave Ansley. What began as a small effort to deliver teddy bears and candy canes to homebound children has grown into one of Fortuna’s most heartfelt traditions.

Over the years, the program expanded into three major phases:

❤️ Phase 1 – Special Needs Children

Santa, transported by fire truck, visits children who are unable to leave their homes, delivering teddy bears, candy canes, and holiday cheer.

🎄 Phase 2 – Senior Care Homes

Santa, Mrs. Claus, and their helpers visit Fortuna’s senior living facilities, bringing warmth, stuffed animals, and kindness to residents.

🎁 Phase 3 – Community Families in Need (Added 1998)

The largest phase of the program supports local families who may not otherwise have Christmas. Volunteers learn each child’s specific needs, then deliver clothing, toys, blankets, family games, and a full holiday meal.

In 2024, the program supported over 139 families and 350+ children, with deliveries made by fire truck convoy on Christmas Eve.

This tradition continues to embody the heart of Fortuna—neighbors helping neighbors, spreading joy, and ensuring every child feels seen and cared for during the holiday season.
