It’s Homecoming Week at Fortuna High! 🐾 There’s a lot happening around campus — from dress-up days and float building to sports, tutoring, and yearbook sales. Watch the full bulletin video above, or catch up on the highlights below.
🎉 Homecoming Week & Spirit Stick
Each year during Homecoming Week, classes compete for the Spirit Stick by earning points through participation. To be eligible, students must be under 80 minutes and have no more than one consequence in Minga.
Points can be earned by checking in and out of float building and lip sync practices through Minga, and by participating in dress-up days:
- Monday, Sept. 29 – Meme Monday (dress like your favorite school-appropriate meme)
- Tuesday, Sept. 30 – Time Travel Tuesday (dress from another decade, past or future)
- Wednesday, Oct. 1 – World Travel Wednesday (travel clothes, vacation attire, luggage instead of backpacks)
- Thursday, Oct. 2 – Class Color Day
- Freshmen: Purple
- Sophomores: Green
- Juniors: Black
- Seniors: Blue
- Friday, Oct. 3 – Husky Spirit Day (wear your blue, white, and Husky gear)
🏈 Key Homecoming Events
- Float Building: Mon–Thurs, 3:30–5:30 PM at the F Building Bus Barn
- Powder Puff & Lip Sync: Thursday night, Lip Sync performance around 7:30–8:00 PM after the Powder Puff game @ Husky Field
- Parade: Friday at 1:45 PM on Main Street
- Friday Night Football: Huskies vs. Del Norte — JV at 5:00 PM, Varsity at 7:00 PM
- Movie Night: Friday, 9:00 PM in the Logan Gym. Tickets $2 at the door, concessions $1. Vote for the movie on Monday! Bring a blanket or chair for a cozy movie vibe.
📚 News & Reminders
- Yearbooks are on sale for $69 until October 30th. Prices increase after that. Order at fortunahigh.com.
- Travel Squad Members: Deposits and signed commitment letters are due by October 1st. Pay at the SFO, get the white slip, attach it to your letter, and turn it in to Mr. Benbow.
- Tutoring: Math tutoring is available every Tuesday at lunch in Room E-2 with Miss Valdez. Bring your lunch and your questions.
- Seniors: Jim will be on campus Thursday, October 2nd, at 8:00 AM to answer questions about class rings, caps, and gowns. He’ll also be collecting orders. Deadlines come up monthly, so don’t miss it! Orders can also be placed online at ultimategrad.com.

- Monday: Garden Club (after school in the garden between F Building and the Metal Shop), Interact Club (lunch in AB-3 with Mr. Rios).
- Tuesday: BSU meets at lunch in B-3. Dungeons & Dragons Club is dark this week for Homecoming.
- Thursday: FCA meets at lunch in CA-2, Creeks Club meets at lunch in F-5 and leads recycling after school, Mecha Club meets at lunch in CA-4, and GSA meets at lunch in the Wellness Center.

🐾 Husky Sports Recap
- Boys Soccer: Beat McKinleyville 5-1 on Sept. 24.
- Girls Soccer: Beat South Fork 7-0 on Sept. 27.
- Football: Shut out University Prep 35-0 on Sept. 26.
- Cross Country: Juan Ornelas placed 4th in Varsity Boys with a 17:49 finish. In the Girls 3-Mile Open, Alexa McCall placed 10th at 24:01, Brida Lester followed at 24:06, and Elizabeth Stevens hit a personal record at 24:10.
- Volleyball: Lost to Arcata 0-3 on Sept. 25.
🍴 Husky Eats
This week’s cafeteria menu includes:
- Breakfast: Monday Pancakes, Tuesday Cinnamon Rolls, plus daily PB&J sandwiches, parfaits, and cereal.
- Lunch: Monday Hamburgers or Cheeseburgers, Tuesday Tacos with salad bar and sides. Menus for Wednesday through Friday will be updated soon.
